Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Frame Sixty Labs, LLC ("Frame Sixty", "we", "us") covering your use of the AI Translation: Scan Translator app (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The App

The App translates text, speech, camera images and recognised objects between languages, and lets you save words for later. Translation and recognition run on your device using downloadable language packs and on-device models. Results are produced automatically by software and may contain errors.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the App Store terms of service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or extract the models, language packs or other components of the App, except where the law expressly allows it.

3. Free plan and Premium

Free plan. The free plan includes a limited number of translations per day and the language packs for your current language pair. Limits may change over time.
Premium. Premium removes daily limits and unlocks all language packs and features shown on the purchase screen. Premium is sold as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
Billing. All purchases are made through your Apple ID and are charged by Apple. Prices are shown in the App before you buy and may vary by country.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Free trials. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. The trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policy. Request refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Restoring. Use "Restore purchases" in the App to restore Premium on a new device signed in with the same Apple ID.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App for anything unlawful, to infringe the rights of others, to translate content you have no right to process, or to interfere with the App or the services it relies on. You are responsible for the content you choose to translate.

5. Accuracy and reliance

Machine translation and image recognition are not perfect. Do not rely on the App for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or emergency purposes, or where a mistranslation could cause harm. Always verify important information with a qualified human translator.

6. Third-party components

The App uses on-device machine-learning components and downloadable language packs provided by Google (ML Kit), and Apple frameworks for speech recognition and text-to-speech. Your use of those components is also subject to their providers' terms. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services.

7. Intellectual property

The App, its design, branding and content are owned by Frame Sixty or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These Terms do not give you any rights in the App beyond the licence above. Text you enter and results you save remain yours.

8. Changes to the App and these Terms

We may update, change or discontinue features of the App at any time. We may also update these Terms; the current version is always available in the App under Settings and on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Frame Sixty will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Sections 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Frame Sixty Labs, LLC is organised, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, together with the App Store terms, are the entire agreement between you and Frame Sixty regarding the App.
